Tennis Forehand Volley - Creating Skid...

One of the worst tennis teaching cliches of all time is "play your volleys way out in front of your body...".

All that does is set you up for a flat contact point where it's impossible to create underspin on the ball so your volley will skid, stay low, and force your opponents to have to their shot back up to you.

  1. You say you want to hit the volley more to your side, but your body has turned, so you are still hitting the volley in front of you. It's just that the front of you is not facing the net.

  2. Great tip Brent. You often see the beginner to intermediate players wanting to hit the ball with the face of the racquet to far out in front as in your tip thus pushiing the ball long.Keeping the racquet fram in front of your chest is more ideal. Love the high quality.
